A Quick Fix for Getting More Coaching Clients
Feb 23, 2023If you have a passion for coaching and your business isn’t working as well as you’d hoped, it’s not because you’re doing anything wrong or need to work harder. It’s usually just a bit of a disconnect between what you love to do and how you’re presenting it, and this is easily fixable!
The only thing you need in order to fix this messaging glitch is to know what your potential clients are saying about the issue you solve for them. You need their words.
Our potential clients are thinking about their struggle with specific language, and you can find out what this is whenever you want.
The way we present content to the world with social media and email allows us to be really fluid as coaches. If I write content that doesn’t seem to connect with my audience and encourage them to work with me, I can shift that today and put out something new.
The speed at which we learn and get feedback these days is so cool! And, even better, you can find out everything you need to know from your audience for free.
Whenever I’m not sure if something landed for people and made them excited about my work, I simply ask. I do little quick surveys or directly ask people questions about what they feel when I send out specific content.
I love doing this kind of quick research because it’s so fast and helpful. Then I can implement what I hear from my audience in my messaging immediately. As soon as I ask them how they would describe the issue I’m helping them with, I can write content that uses their words.
As coaches, we know a lot of insider stuff about the issue we solve, and it’s easy to fall into using language that makes more sense to us than it does to our audience. That’s why we need to know what words they are using in order to connect with them around the help they want.
It can feel really frustrating or downright disheartening when you’re excited to work in your calling, but in order to do so, you need a flow of clients that isn’t quite happening yet. It’s easy to fall into self-doubt, but I’m here to say that everything you need to make this work is doable and learnable, and it doesn’t have to take long at all.
Even with just a few language tweaks in the content you’re sharing, you can see a shift in registrations. Make sure your content explains the issue you solve in your potential clients’ words and you’re golden.
If you have current clients, you can also ask them why they signed up with you and what help they were looking for from you to help you write clearer content that helps people know you’re the right coach for them.
And, of course, it helps if you have a program that addresses their issues because then they will know you’re set up to help them specifically. (This is why we want to stay away from the generic coaching packages that can be used for any issue.)
Sorting out what isn’t working in your business and getting you aligned to make money is something we do in my Heart Centered Coach Accelerator program. You can learn more about this program and others here.
