No, You Don't Need to Niche Down

There’s a common phrase that can feel really stressful to hear when you’re trying to get your messaging sorted out so that you can attract more clients: “You need to niche down.”

Most clients I talk to HATE that phrase, because it gives them the tense knot in their stomach that makes it hard to even begin to think of creative and inspired content. I used to feel that, too, whenever I tried to write for my audience.

When I started out coaching, I was working with women who had pelvic pain using mind-body healing to help them release the pain. I had accidentally niched down at that time, so it wasn’t something I worried about.

Then, I started expanding who I helped with the mind-body healing tools I had created, because they were so applicable to so many people for so many things. (A common thing I hear from coaches about their work, too!)

Pretty soon I was helping other coaches a lot, because they were coming to me and asking for my healing tools and how to learn them. My messaging got really fuzzy in my head. I wasn’t sure how to talk about what I did, even though there I was, clearly helping other coaches! It just felt confusing.

The hardest thing to do is to translate what your clients are asking for help around/why they’re coming to you and then turn it into words that make sense to someone who hasn’t yet heard of your work.

That’s why the traditional marketing advice is to “niche down.” This will supposedly clear up this problem.

Except, niching down is a logical thing. It’s something you do from your logical mind, not your heart. So, it’ll never feel quite right. It won’t feel inspired. It won’t have that magnetic pull that calls clients to you.

Instead, you actually need to “niche up.” By this I mean discover what is calling your heart, first. What do you LOVE to help people solve? Often it will seem super mundane or obvious to you because you’re a natural at this. You may have to look hard at what you do to see it. Or even ask several clients! I assure you, the common thread is there.

Then, once you’ve identified your calling and your superpower (that natural thing you do that solves a problem for someone in the way they really want it solved), you can see which category it falls into: wealth, health, relationships, or personal development.

Boom, done. Now you have the clear reason people will pay you money for what you do, and you’re doing it from your heart and soul, not your head. This will be ALIGNED. It will be magical. It will feel inspired and awesome. The energy of everything you create will be magnetic. And you’ll have never-ending ideas for content, because you’ll always hear things from your clients that inspire you to share and write to your larger audience - because this is a passion.

I can certainly help you with the sorting out what your calling and superpower are if you’re finding that confusing! And I can easily see how you can categorize it, too. It’s part of what we do in my group program.

Then we’ll create your divinely aligned signature program, too. You’ll be able to work with ease and have a program that allows you to grow and add clients in without overloading you.

You’ll also get my Slacker Magic Manifesting System. You simply HAVE to manifest clients when you use this system, friends. It’s super dang effective. It’s the exact system I use, myself, and how I’ve grown my business to $280-300K+ years on a fairly small email list and with very short hours (single parenting!).

Making the decision to go for it is the reason I’ve had success after success after success in my business. 😀 You can, too!

You can learn more about the program here.
